Yard Games

By: Haley Guthrie

up late, on the lawn
picked me up, pinning my arms

four other guys took turns
molesting me, hysterically

writhing, churning
air with legs, hyperextending knees.

you’re not in good hands when stop
doesn't stop anything.

walked two miles to my parents house,
grabbed a bottle of red, pacing and looking

to open what I couldn't find.
took the bottle to the stone landscaping, shattered

the neck, drank out of the jagged edge hoping
to get a mouthful of glass.
